History of 85 years of quality insurance service

Homestead Insurance Agency and its former owner, Robert ‘Rob’ Rapp, are part of a family insurance tradition dedicated to personal service for 85 years. In 1934, Rob’s grandfather, Sidney H. Lance, founded one of the first Medina County insurance agencies. The tradition of family ownership continued until the mid-1980’s, when the family sold its interest in its original agency. By that time, Rob was already operating the agency’s Brunswick insurance office which he subsequently purchased. That office became Homestead Insurance Agency which continues to the present day in honoring the family’s commitment to customer service.

• 1921 – Sidney H. Lance, Rob’s grandfather, starts his career of selling insurance
• 1934 – Sid, at the age of 34, founds one of the first Medina County Insurance agencies
• 1957 – Brunswick insurance office established, later becoming Homestead Insurance Agency Inc.
• 1965 – Sid retires
• 1974 – Robert Rapp joins the agency
• 1981 – Rob is transferred to Brunswick insurance office
• 1984 – Rob’s stepfather retires after years of guiding the company
• 1985 – Rob purchases the agency continuing the family insurance tradition
• 2005 – Brandon Rapp joins Homestead Agency
• 2017 – Brandon becomes owner and CEO

The tradition continues as we move into the future.

Brandon Rapp, Rob’s son, joined our agency’s staff in September 2015 and on January 1, 2017 became owner and CEO of Homestead Insurance Agency Inc. He looks to continue building the same success and commitment Homestead Insurance was founded on bringing a wealth of education and experience to the table.
